Thanks to Cam for today’s question!
Which cafe are you almost too scared to order from, for fear of the snarl you know you’ll get from the staff?
Maybe you know of a local cafe which happens to employ Satan himself as a barista.
Or is there a pub with staff that are so hilariously, unfailingly rude that it’s actually become part of the attraction of going there?
By the way, this is the last question for April – so go back over the last month’s posts, and vote on the comments you like best. The most popular answer on each post will be announced shortly!

Obviously we’re all too afraid to say because what if they find out I badmouthed them and never let me into The Zoo again? OH SHIT NOW THEY KNOW
There’s a yum char on queen street (part of one of the hotel buildings) that we actually go to because the manager always shouts at us for not booking and demands to know how long we want to stay…even if there are no other customers – it’s brilliant!!! Try it!! The food’s ok too :)
LOL my mate works at the zoo. i’ve never had a problem there hey. and any place that spawned the awesomeness that is BUTTERFINGERS deserves a little slack!!!
i’ve actually found the bar staff at Not Quite 299 pretty bad…. not rude but dismissive and superior…
but they all got fired the other week and i havent been back since…
they didn’t get fired, they just moved bars. not quite 299 is now my people, an indie club like common people. 299 is alot better than not quite anyway yewww
The bar staff at Bowery are the most arrogant, obnoxious, wankers in Bribane.
Decks!
Oh they were friendly enough when we were in there, but try to go there without a booking. The whole place will be empty and they’ll tell you they’re fully booked.
Even heard of someone calling up and asking if they have any spots for lunch, being told yes then rocking up 15min later to an empty restaurant and being told they were fully booked.
Fatboys in the Valley Mall, hands down.
The Melbourne Hotel in West End, easily the worst staff in Brisbane.
EspressoBio in Wongabel St, Kenmore! He is a grumpy old man. We walk past and go to Plum instead
Good questions and all… but having travelled the world and lived in England, I have to say that Brisbane has the nicest serving (and retail) staff I’ve ever had the pleasure of coming across! That being said… there was one guy at The Pearl Cafe who nearly ruined my dinner with his unsolicited try-hard negative running commentary… and it’s still in my top five places to go out to eat in Brisbane!
The Paddo Coffee Club owner’s the roughest old cow in town – and that whole fish is consequently on the beak!
