Woodridge hands down, I am only a teenager but I know that place is crazy, I went there with my friend and these 2 girls about the same age asked for intercourse: we didn't even know them, my uncle got punched in the head for no reason at the train station.

I lived in Annerley for over 10 years before moving to Eagleby 2 years ago. I am so much happier here, yeah the shopping centre is dodgy and there are a lot of people around that obviously dont take care of them selves, but over all i find that most people are very friendly. Houses are cheap, most have good big backyards. I owned a small two bedroon unit in Annerley and for 20k less i now have a great big house with more than enough room for a family of four and now i can have dogs.
Cant forget the fact were 30min to brisbane CBD and 30 min to the Gold Coast.
I definitely dont regret the move!!!

Things have and are continuously changing in all parts of Brisbane and especially in areas like Logan. I have lived in Brisbane for 11 years and have noticed a trend being established of more and more young people wanting to move closer to the city and rent rather than own for convenience sakes. All what matters to them is the shopping, dining out and that extra sleep in the morning. It doesnt matter if they live in a near dilapidated house that they've bought for a fortune.
I live in Waterford, Logan (formerly Gold Coast) and its a beautiful suburb with lovely views - all within 35mins (consistently timed) drive to Brisbane Central Station. An express from Loganlea will reach you to Southbank Station in 25 mins. Modern houses are being built in new estates with larger lands money can buy than what they can in areas around the CBD. Shopping centres are sprawling up and the bad crowd are quickly dissapearing. I feel utterly ashamed to bring this up but when most parts of inner Brisbane were inundated in water last year, Logan had the least amount of troubles. John Paul College, Canterbury College, Rivermount College are in the Top 20 Schools of Brisbane.
Point your finger at Logan only should you find a crime free suburb!!

Brisbane is one big sub-urb all the way from the NSW border through to Caboolture and there are nice people and not so nice people and nice houses and not so nice houses in all but the very newest estates.
I can't believe how you all don't notice how UGLY the main commercial ares are in any part of Brisbane....if you blindfolded someone from brisbane and took them to anothe area they would take a while to work out where they were.
Your local councilors perpetuated this ugliness and you and your neighbourhood small businesses contributed - SHAME,SHAME,SHAME where is the beauty? where is the nature? where is the art & culture?
The troglodytes who spew out the commercial television nightly news and current affairs and the pseudo intellectual posers at the ABC are so wrapped up in this hideouseness that you all just think it can't possibly be any other way.
Read some of the moronic comments on this page and you get a tiny glimpse into the lack of depth of thought of the average Brisbanite.
No wonder there are comments about "scum" etc. these are your fellow humans who through lack of education (their Primary & High School teachers turned them off learning) make their way and behave in a way that they believe they have to in this nepotistic judgemental so called society.
So you've all contributed to constructing an urban environment where the major landmarks are the tall mastheads of American fast food outlets and the main cultural focus are the big palaces of retail.

Loganlea sadly should be on the list. I've lived here for 12 years with my family and it can be very good and then bad! The first 10 years not an incident, the last 2 years we have our number plates stolen 3 times, 3 attempted breakins (1 successful) house ransacked, burgled, house keys stolen and car stolen (our departure was being watched). Grafitti on fences is an expectation. Adolescents walking bending street signs neighbours see and report. Tree branches all along our roads are regularly damaged - an expectation now. I found a man urinating against a tree on my front lawn when I drove home from work at 6pm. I left some toilet paper out there for him for next time. Regularly adolesents sit in the middle of road, they don't move, we drive around them. I feel for the elderly nearby who take great care of their homes presentation but notice they are getting hit with fence grafitti the most. Neighbour walking over overpass Loganlea Railway Station said he called out to man going car to car along station road (communters cars) systematically stealing number plates. My son sees regularly drug deals going on, instigated by a shirtless man who feins mobility problems by using crutches, only to walk away from the station after the deals with the crutches under his arm. Police are putting in a pretty good presence now and i can see they are talking to young folk and building a positive rapport with them. A colleague had her side car window smashed 3 times in 3 months as she parked on Station Road and commuted to University. We are constantly asked by commuters if they can park their car near our driveway so to be further away from thieves but it just brings the thieving closer to us. I worked at Logan Hospital and at 7am at least once a week I would see remnants of some poor sod's car broken car windows. Hospital Security system is great and watch for repeat offenders coming on hospital grounds - yep they come back - dumb as they are. My car's lock was broken with a screw driver, they took away an attache case of bills!. Loganlea High School has a very proactive principle where if his students are identified as hooning or being nuisance he asks for description, any identifying info and will find and collar them. Now in saying that I have the nicest neighbours on either side who are very caring and have been so for 12 years. The hospital is very accessible, the Uni and Tafe are great and transport in and out by bus and train is well schedled. Unfortunately my sons have grown up witnessing (from other end of the street) terrible domestric fights - kiss kiss bang bang allright! police invasions not usual to apprehend or officers to serve warrants. Unmarked police cars engines purring for hours at night watching comings and goings of certain houses. We have seen our fair share of ambulance attendances as well as Channel 7 news hounds in the street. On the upside council and developers are going to pour some money into this area!. There is a new supermarket going up near McDonalds and the shopping complex at Meadowbrook have IGA staying open till 8pm (thank you IGA) Plus a great gym has just opened up. hope this helps.

Well instead of going on about the bad places... Because one person can have a bad experience and another can have a totally positive one... So..

Personally, I like Mt Omanney area, it looks nice and I like their shopping centre but I think it is expensive to live there.

Well, Deception Bay has a bad reputation, but I'm from there and I go to UQ, studying science with a major in bioinformatics. I think if everyone thinks negatively and tell ppl they live in a total slum, then they start to turn it into one.

Well I have to agree with Kayecee. It doesn't matter where you live. Your home is your castle. It's not just scum you have to worry about. There is mother nature. It can strike anywhere at anytime. I brought a house in the Logan area. It's coming upto my 11 year, I have had no trouble. I have great friends and neighbours. i move from a tiny town out back, and my home was burnt to the ground by a bush fire. One thing I have noticed QLD people are very judgemental on others. Just like the poms? I have met a few people through my job from Inala, Beenligh and Ipswich, and they are quite nice chaps.

I think everyone is getting too excited here. Before you scare yourselves, stop freaking out the people who want to move up here. I've had to move many times because of work, I can tell you it doesn't matter where you live in Australia. If you hang around trouble, trouble will hang around with you. It doesn't matter if your in the country or the city or in between, just remember the old sayings - dont lend out your partner, dont lend out your car, dont lend out your lawn mower. They will not come back in the same way.Trust your feelings on people, don't judge a town because of a few bad eggs. They are eveywhere even over seas.If you have kids, talk to people in your area, find out what school their kids go to, and ask them what they think? The guy moving up from Melbourne, we all know what it's like down there, stick to people like yourself. You'll be ok.
